Where do you live?

Our home is a 1929 Queenslander located in South-East Queensland, Australia.

Why this house?

This is our first home purchase and first renovation. We both knew we wanted a Queenslander to renovate, and character restrictions weren’t ever a hinderance to us. This home appealed to us particularly because of it’s size block, which is quite rare in the area.

What are your plans for the house?

We love our 1929 Queenslander and plan to respectfully preserve its features. The home has council Character restrictions which protect it, so the facade will not be changing - although we will be painting it.

As this is our long-term family home, we will be updating the home to suit a modern lifestyle and growing family. This is our way of showing this home love and bringing it into the modern day Queensland lifestyle.

Why did you start Sunshine State Home?

Sunshine State Home started in 2018 as an Instagram account recording my home and yard inspiration. Once we found our home, the account turned into my visual diary for the renovation.
